Mary Maisner née Coverley contacted my father Bernard Rawes in June 1991 as she had learnt that he was researching the Roope family. Her letters indicate that she had already done work on the Coverleys and was turning her attention to the Roope side of her family. My father's grandmother was Susanna Roope Dockery and Mary's, grandmother was Ellen Standring, Susanna's sister.
Felicity Roope, was also interested in the family being daughter of Gerard Broadmead Roope and great granddaughter of Richard Roope the brother in law of Elizabeth Roope. With these letters are four documents. One is a hand drawn and indistinct pedigree of the Roopes. The pedigree is drawn on the back of a sheet headed 'Hunt, Roope & Co.' and written 'From Mary Maisner'; the other is a larger sheet on which is another and more distinct version of the same pedigree; the third is two-sided on which my father had written 'from Mary Maisner'; the forth, from Felicity Roope, is a copy document (two A3 sheets), which is concerned with the death of Felicity's great great grandmother Elizabeth Roope in 1902.
This latter document is interesting in that it is signed by Gerard Roope, and Francis Stewart Leslie, whose addresses are given, as Hillbrook Trull near Taunton and Edinburgh respectively.
