This Rawes bible from the Ratcliff line once belonged to James Rawes 1855-1931 and his wife Hannah Rawes, died 1935. The bible was passed down to their daughter Helen (Nellie) Tout 1918-1995, and then to her daughter Sheila. I saw this fine Victorian bible back in 1982 at Sheila's home near Nailsworth in Gloucestershire. The bible was to be passed to family in the U.S.A. There was nothing written in the bible but there was a slip of paper on which the following was written.

Elizabeth Rawes Died Feby 13th 1891 aged 6 years 7 months. James Rawes died October24, 1931 aged 76 years. James Rawes & Hannah Ratcliff Married Feby 26th 1881. Harry Rawes Born Jan 24th 1882. Elizabeth Rawes Born June 29th 1884. John William Rawes Born August 27th 1886. Arthur Rawes Born Jany 30th 1894. Nillie Ratcliff Rawes July 16th 1898.
