Dear Brother
On sunday last I had a letter
from Robt, in which he informs me of the death of
our Uncle of Bromley; he says that he died on
Tuesday the 23rd of last month - and begs that I will
write and inform you of it - he gives me an account of
some very affecting Jane[?] - and laments the loss of a Friend
who has behaved to him as a Father - he says he would have
given me a fuller account but (says he) I cannot find words to
express it. If you should be in Carlisle shortly, you
can see his letter.

I would like to see you come and have
all settled respecting these quarries - altho we have of
late done little & always believe that there is a
very good liveing in them. I believe that there may be
more good done in Mardale Waters, than there
can be done at the other quarries, which has
made me rather decline the idea of haveing any
thing to do with them - I would like very ill to have
to give them up, particularly now when we have been
at so much expence; and I am so confident that there
is an advantage in them - I would like to have
all settled soon that I might remain at the place - I
purpose going of[f] at three o'clock tomorrow morning & to
remain there till the week end. I expect you will
write and acquaint me the time you will be here
