                      Carlisle Feby 12th 1815

Mr Dear Brother
On the 31st of Decr last I drew on
Mr Kell for £30/-, and on the 6th of Jany 1815 I received
of D. Carrick by your order £20/- previous to these
dates I had recvd £50/-, in all £100/- equal to our
fourth of the quarry concern - -- a stamp
receipt should be thought requisite for any part,
let me know and I will send it to you.

The place you saw the work going on at in
Mardale Waters, continuing still, still more
favourable the expences of working are
certainly great, but from every appearance I
believe we will shortly be able to produce
much slate as has not been seen in that part
before. I have sent off for Sir Chas: Monck of
Belsay Castle four tons of thin[?], and has one
more to send; they are stony, but I believe they
will make the best & most durable, cover
I ever saw in my time: the further we penetrate
into the Hill the finer & better the Metal is, and
