My Dear Sir,
          You will be somewhat
surprised to receive a letter from me
from this place but some Business
connection with an Executorship has brought
me so far North and in realising that
contemplating paying Mr Wm Rawes of
Bambro a visit and then calling on you
but from a letter from him last Evening
I find his arangements are to leave home
on Monday next by which time I had
thought to have been with him. Now
if it would be agreeable to Mrs Hodgson

[Page 2:]
& yourself I would alter my plan and go
on as soon as I can get away from Edinbro
to Morpeth from where I would easily
procure a Conveyance to you. I am uncertain
whether this will be on the end of this week
or on Monday next; but I rather think I
thall be obliged to be in Edinburgh on Monday
and most probably only get away by this
Tuesday morning Coaches I understand
these are the Chevy Chase & Highflyer
herewith you please candidly state whether
this arangement will suit you; a letter to
me at the Post Office Edinbro will call to me.
When I left home eight days since Mary
was mending tho' slowly she had recovered the

use of the arm and some of the fingers and on
the whole was decidedly better and in better spirits
all the others were very well. It will give me
sincere pleasure to find you also much recovered
and all your family well. Please remember
me most kindly to them and believe me
          Sincerely Yours
          Wm Rawes
