This portrait hangs in my library. It is assumed to be an early 'touched up' photograph taken around 1849/50. It had descended through the immediate family but memory as to whom it depicted had been lost. However on sending a copy to our cousins in Lisbon, it was identified as that of James Rawes, our ancestor who had immigrated to Portugal in the 1820's. A similar likeness hangs in the offices of Rawes & Co. in Lisbon.
