1778-1849 Mayor of Kendal 1832/3, living Beezon Lodge, Kendal. This large and grand painting descended through members of the Hudson family and was bought by the late Michael Rawes (Oporto Line), by which time the identity of the sitter was not known, although it was believed to be of a Rawes. The Hudsons' came from Wetsleddale, Shap. The most likely candidate is Richard Rawes, Mayor of Kendal, as he too originated from Wetsleddale and left some of his property to the Hudson's.
