In the Name of God amen I Elizabeth Rawes of
Cartmell Church Towne in Cartmell in the County of
Lancaster Widdow being weake of body but of sound
& disposing minde & memory (praised be God for the
same Doe hereby make publish & declare this my last
Will & Testiment in Manner & fforme Following - ffirst
1 Commend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God
Trusting through the alone meritts & mediation of
Jesus Crist to obtaine remission of my Sins and be
made partaker of everlasting life my body (in hope
of a Joyfull resurrection) I comitt to the Earth to be
buried at the Discretion of my Executors hereafter
named. And I Dispose of my worldly Estate as ffolloweth
Item I [Imprimis] I Give & Devise unto George Rawes & his heirs
& Assigns for ever all my Messuage house Garden &
peat Moss which I bought of Rowland Sewart
which said house & premisses are Situate att Bownass in Windermere
Item I Give unto James Rawes & his heirs & Assigns
for Ever all my Messuage house & Garden with its Apurtances
Situate att Cartmell Church Town which I purchased of
Thomas Robinson Item I Give unto George Rawes my Chest att
Bownass and to James Rawes my Table at Church Towne
& I Joyne the said Geo: Rawes & James Rawes Joynt
Exors to whom I give the remains of my Good & personal
Estate Equally betwixt them the three pounds due from
John Bourke I give unto my sone George Rawes &
my Will is Further that my sonn James Rawes shall
have a stone of wooll which is now in my house and
my sonn James to pay for my ffunerall expences
out of his Executor parte of my Goods & it being my
minde to be buried att Windermere my sonn George to
pay the one half of the Charge of burying my Corpps and
noe other Expenses. & as for ye Twenty shillings
in ready [cash] in my house I give the same to my sonn James Rawes
In Witness whereof I have here unto put my hand
and Seal this ffifth day of September Ano 1703

The Condition of this Obligation is Such that if the above
bounden & George Rawes James Rawes
shall and doe well and truly execute & perform
the last Will and testamt of Elizabeth Rawes widdow late of
Cartmell Church Town within the Archdeaconry of
Richmond aforesd deced in paying All her Debts & obligations
so far as her Goods will extend and Law shall bind them
also they doe exhibit into the Regry of the sd. Archdeaconry
A true & perfect Invtry of all and Singlr the Goods, Chattells
& Creditts of ye sd. deced and doe make a true & just Accott
of the same when they shall be thereunto Lawfully called
And Moreover (if need require) doe enter into both better
with more Sufficient Suretyes for pformance of the premisses
as the Judge of the Court for ye time being shall think
requisite And Lastly doe keep indemnify as the above
named Lord Erppe of Chester his Comissary & all other
his Officer & Assistants agt all persons by reason of the
premisses that the this Obligation to be void or else [-----]
