In the name of God Amen the second day of March One thousand seven hundred and Twenty Eight. I Gerrard Rawes / of Kirkby Lonsdale in the County of Westmorland, Innholder being at present very much indisposed and out of order but / of sound perfect and disposeing mind and memory praised be God for the same and being desirous to settle things / in order to make peace with my ffamily when I am gone. Do make ordaine publish and declare this to be my last / Will and Testament Revoking and hereby disanulling all former and other wills and Testamts by me at any time / heretofore made, And touching the disposall of my Temporall Estate wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bless / me and bestow upon me I give and devise and dispose thereof as followeth. ffirst I give and bequeath unto my / Daughter Jane Rawes the sume of Eighty pounds to be paid in manner following by my Executrix and Trustees / to this my will hereafter mentioned that is to say fforty pounds part of the sd sum of Eighty pounds when and so soone as / she the sd Jane shall attaine to and accomplish her full age of Twenty one years and the remaining part of the / said sum of Eighty pounds to be paid her at the death of my Wife Judith Rawes or her inter marriage which / shall first happen. Item I give unto my son James Rawes the sum of Eighty pounds to be paid him in manner / aforesd when and so soon as hee shall attaine to his age of Twenty one years and the remining part of the / said sum of Eighty pounds to be paid him also at the time above mentioned. Item I give and bequeath unto / my Daughter Mary Rawes the sume of Eighty pounds as aforesd when and so soone as she shall attaine to her age / of Twenty One years, and the remaining part of the sd sume to be paid to her also at the time above mentioned / Item I give and bequeath unto my two sons Gerrard Rawes and John Rawes to each of them the sume of / Eighty pounds apiece that is forty pounds each to be also paid them when they shall attaine to and accomplish their full age of / Twenty One years and the remaining part and proporcon of their severall and respective sums to be given / as aforesd to be paid them at the Death of my said wife Judith or her intermarriage wch shall first happen / Item it is my further Will and mind that if it fortune any of my sd children should dye before they or any / of them attaine to their respective age of Twenty One years that then and in such case such their part and / proporcon shall go to such living share and share alike to be paid them respectively at their severall / ages and in such proporcon and at such times as is above limited expressed and appointed for payment thereof / Item it is my further Will and mind that such of my said children as shall live and attain their said / severall and respective age of Twenty One years and after dyd and leave issue of his her or their bodies lawfully / begotten that such sume and sums as aforsd due or to become due and payable as aforesaid that the / same shall goe to such issue of him or her as is before also expressed. Item I will that my said Wife shall / have the Tuition of my said children during their and every of their minority and untill their severall and / respective age of Twenty one years and that my said Wife shall have the yearly Interest of the said /

sums as above bequeathed for and towards her maintenance & my said childrens board education & clothing / or in proporcon to their severall sums during their minority. Item I nominate and appoint my sd Loving / Wife Executrix of this my last Will & Testament to whom I give all my Quich[?] goods, household goods / and implemts of household goods plate and other my goods moveable and imoveable The paying in the / first place out of the same my just Debts ffuneral expenses and the probatt of this my will and / such Legacies as I shall hereafter mention and declare, that is to say I give and bequeath unto my son in Law / Philip ffoster the sume of forty ponds to be paid him by my Executrix in manner following that is Twenty / pounds within twelve months after my decease and the other twenty pounds within three years after the / expiracon of the sd twelve months. Item give unto my sister Margarett Rawes the sume of Twenty shillings / Item I also give unto my sister Elizabeth wife of Richard Lolly the sume of Twenty shillings which sd sums I order / to be paid them within Twelve months of my decease or sooner that to the discretion of my Executrix / Item it is my further Will and mind that the yearly Interest of such sume and sums of money so given as / aforesd to pay my children and which are not to be paid them during their natural life or chast[?] viduity of my sd wife / Judith Rawes that my Trustees hereafter mentioned shall see the said yearly Interest paid her out of the said / moneys for untill and during her chast[?] Widdow hood or continuing my widdow. Item I desire my loving ffriends / James Bidding of upper biggins and Gilbert Batty of Deans Biggin both in the parish of Kirkby Lonsdale / to be Trustees and Supervisors of this my last Will and Testament desiring them to take the burthen & care / over my sd children and to secure? the bonds, specialties I have by me for the paymt of my said children Jane / James, Mary, Gerrard and John Rawes fortunes bequeathed as aforesd into their hands for the use and uses aforesd / and the yearly Interest therby and thereout arising to apply the same in every respect as is above bequeathed / and expressed and according to the true intent of this my Will and that they have allowed them all reasonable / charges and expences in about this my trust reposed in them desiring also they will meet yearly to rectify all / matters about my affairs during my said childrens minority and see this my will duly performed the best / they can and I give to each of them over and besides that the sume of Tenn shillings apiece to be paid them by my / sd Executrix. In witness whereof I the said Gerrard Rawes the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament / putt my hand and seal the day and year first above written.

[Bond, an abstract:]
A bond was taken out by Judith Raws of Kirkby Lonsdale Co. Westmorland wid. (as executrix named in the Will of Gerard Rawes late of Kirkby Lonsdale, Innholder), to Administer the Will and codicil annexed and Gilbert Batty of Deans Biggin on the 7trh August 1729.

[Codicil:]
Memorandum / Whereas I Gerrard Rawes of Kirkby / Lonsdale did execute my Will ye second day of March / 1728 wherein I did give and bequeath unto my five children / Jane James Mary Gerrard & John Rawes to each of them Eighty / pounds apiece to be paid them as in ye sd Will is expressed / And whereas also I did nominate & appoint my wife Judith / Raws Executrix to my Quick[?] Goods Household Goods Plate / with all other my Goods moveable and immoveable Now it is / my further will that my sd Executrix Judith Rawes shall give / Bonds immediately after my decease for ye payment of one / hundred pounds to the Trustees nominated in my sd Will / payable to them on ye day of her marriage or day of / her Death or which shall first happen to be by them distributed / as followeth, That is to say to Jane, James, Mary, Gerrard & John / Rawes each Twenty pounds to be payd by my sd Trustees / to each of them as they shall attain to the age of Twenty / one years. And I desire my loving ffriends nominated by / me in the sd Will as Trustees & Supervisors thereof that / they or survivor or survivors of them their Heirs and / assignes that they will take care in this affair & so the / same perform as well as their other Trust reposed in / them. In witness whereof to this codicil I have set my / hand & seal sixth day of June 1729 & annexed the same / to my Will.
