At Appleby May 23rd 1737 / Admnistration of the Goods & Chattels / of the within named Lancelot Rawes was /
granted to Jarett Rawes natural & lawful son / of the said Lancelot Rawes who was then / duly sworn before me

at which time and place the said Jarett Rawes aged 18 / years chose for his Guardians of his Person & Estate /
during his minority John Townson his Grandfather / and John Furnace of Shapp in the County of Westmorland / his
uncle, and the Judge at the time assigned / the Guardians of the Persons & Estate of Margaret / Rawes, John Rawes
& Lancelot Rawes children of / the said deceased Lancelot Rawes during their / minorities, The said John Townson &
John Furnace / being duly Sworn before me.

Know all men by these Presents that wee, John Townson / of Gazegill Head Co. Westmorland, Yeoman / John Furnace of
Shapp Co. Westmorland, Yeoman and / Thomas Scaife of Raisegill Hall in the County of Westmorland, Yeoman / and
John Bowness of Raisebeck in the County of Westmorland, Yeoman / are held and firmly bound unto the Right
Reverend Father / in God George by Divine permission Lord Bishop of Carlisle in Two / Hundred Pounds of good &
lawful money of Great / Britain to be paid to the said Lord Bishop or to his Certain Attorney / in this behalf or
to his Executors or Assigns. To which / payment well and faithfully to be made we bind our selves & each / of us
severally our and every of our Heirs Executors & Administrators for / and in the whole firmly by these presents
Sealed with our Seals dated / the twenty third Day of May In the year of our Lord 1737 and in the tenth year of
the Reign of our Sovereign / Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France & Ireland King
Defender of the Faith so forth.
The Condition of this Obligation is such that whereas the / above bounden John Townson & John Furnace are elected
appointed / and admitted Tutors Curators and Guardians of the Persons / and Estates of Jarret Rawes, Margaret
Rawes, John Rawes and / Lancelot Rawes natural and lawful Children of Lancelot Rawes / late of Barugh in the parish
of Orton otherwise Overton and Diocese / of Carlisle Yeoman Deceased.
If therefore the said John Townson and John Furnace / do and shall well and truly justly and honestly in all
things / Execute and Perform the said Office of Tutors Curators and / Guardians of the said Jarret, Margaret, John
and Lancelot / by doing what in them lies to preserve their Persons and Estates to their / Good and Benefit and by
avoiding as much as in them lies all such / Actings and Doings as may in any wise lend to the contrary And / of
and upon their Actings and Doings for the said Jarret Margaret / John and Lancelot Rawes - do and shall render a
true and / just accompt when lawfully called. And moreover if need / require enter into further Bond with more
sufficient Securities as / the Judge of the said Court for the time being shall think requisite / for performance
of the premises And lawfully do and shall save / harmless and keep indemnified the above named Lord Bishop his /
Chancellor and all other their Officers and Ministers against all / persons whatsoever by reason of the Premises
Then this / Obligation to be void and of none effect or else remain in / full force and vertue.
