In the name of God Amen I Judith Rawes of Kirkby Lonsdale in the County of Westmorland, Widow / and Relict of Gerard Rawes late of the same place deceased being sick and weak in Body but of sound perfect and disposing / mind and memory, praised be to God for the same. I make ordain publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in / manner and form following. First I give and devise all and singular my Freehold Estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my Friend / John Moore of Grimeshill in Middleton in ye County of Westmorland aforesaid and William Batty of High House in the parish of / Tunstale and County of Lancaster, their Heirs and assigns and all the survivor of them, his Heirs and assigns To have and to hold / my said Freehold Estate whatsoever and wheresoever with all its rights members and appurtenences unto them the said John Moore / and William Batty their Heirs and assigns upon this special Trust and confidence, and to the Intent and Purpose that they ye said / Trustees John Moore and William Batty, or the survivor of them, his or their Heirs shall with all convenient speed after my Decease sell / the same. And also I Give and bequeath unto them my said Friends John Moore and William Batty, their Executors and administra / tors All and singular my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (excepting one Pair of Chest Drawers, All my Glass-framed / Pictures, all my Linen of all kinds, and my Tea Table with all its Furniture, which I Do hereby give and bequeath to my Daughter / Mary Rawes. And excepting my Chest in ye Parlour and my wearing apparel which I Do hereby give and bequeath to my / Daughter Jane Bromfield) upon this special Trust and Confidence also and to the Intent and Purpose that they ye said John Moore and / William Batty do sell and dispose of the same as soon as well may be after my Decease. And it is my will and mind that the Moneys / arising by such sale of my said Freehold and Personal Estates be by them the said John Moore and William Batty applied / and disposed of in the following maine[?] that is to say, First that my just Debts Funeral Expences and Probate of this my last Will be / well and truly paid and discharged. Then that the Legacies that were left by my sd late Husband Gerard Rawes (excepting only / what has already been paid to my daughter Jane Broomfield or her late Husband which must first be deducted out of her Legacy / as left her by her Father my said Husband) be next paid and discharged. And the surplus money then remaining I Give / and bequeath unto my Children Philip Foster, James Rawes, Mary Rawes, Gerard Rawes, and John Rawes share and share / alike; excepting, Five pounds which I Do hereby Give and bequeath to my grandson James Broomfield and One Guinea to / each of my said Friends John Moore and William Batty for their trouble they will have herein, and all charges and expences whatsoever that shall in any way attend ye management of this their Trust. And it is my mind and will that a Rreceipt or Re / ceipts from any person having Legacy or Legacies herein tho' a minor shall be deem'd and lookt on as a sufficient discharge / to my said Trustees. And it is further my Will and Mind, that my sd Trustees and the survivor of them, his and their heirs executors / and administrators shall not be discharged or chargeable with, or answerable for any more, or other moneys than what really comes to their / respective hands, nor any less that may happen without their willful Default, and that neither of them shall be charged or / chargeable with or answerable for the Default of the other of them. And I Do hereby nominate Constitute and appoint my said / Friends John Moore, and William Batty Executors of this my last Will and Testament. And lastly it is my will and / mind that whatsoever sum or sums of money I shall at any time pay my sd abovenamed children shall be in discharge / of so much of their several and respective Legacies left them by their sd Father my late husband Gerard Rawes. In / witness whereof I the said Judith Rawes have to this my last Will and Testament set my Hand and Seal the tenth Day / of January in ye year of our Lord One thousand seven Hundred and Forty seven.

[Bond, abstract:]
A bond for five hundred pounds taken out by John Moore of Grimeshill in Middleton Co. Westmorland, Esquire and John Doe, Gent. 14th February 1750.

The above bound John Moore one of the executors in Trust (William Batty another Executor being dead) shall execute the Will of Judith Rawes late of Kirkby Lonsdale Co. Westmorland, Innkeeper, Widom.
