In the name of God Amen I Gerard Rawes of Swindale / Yeoman being of perfect mind and memory I give thanks / unto God for the same Do make and ordain this my last / Will and Testament I give and recommend my Soul into the / hands of Almighty God through the merits and Mediation / of Jesus Christ and my Body to the Earth to be buried with / decent Christian Burial - I give bequeath and devise / unto my son William Rawes Heir at Law All my Real / Estate subject to the following conditions, that is, pay out / of it to my other Sons and Daughters the following Sums to / give and pay to my Son John Rawes twenty pounds and to / his Son John Gerard his Daughter Marianne and to / his Daughter Isabella Ten pounds each and to pay unto my / Sons Robert Richard and Joseph thirty pounds each and / to pay my son Gerard Forty pounds to give also to my / Daughter Mary One Hundred pounds and to each of her / children William and Mary Ten pounds and to Isaac / Rawes to John Nicholson and Mary Nicholson my grand / children the Sum of Ten pounds each also the sum of Twenty / pounds to James Lowis of Shap all of the above to be paid / out of my Real Estate I do make constitute and appoint / my son Gerard Rawes my sole Executor of my Personal / property to pay my just Debts and Funeral Expences save / that I give to my Daughter Mary the Bed with the Appurtenances thereto belonging Standing on the Kitchen / Loft together with Tea Kettle Tea Spoons Cups and other articles belonging thereto / Also my large Copper Milk Kettle with the best Fire Irons / And lastly I do declare this to / be my last Will and Testament whereunto I the said /

Gerard Rawes have here set my Hand and Seal this / sixteenth Day of April in the year of our Lord One / thousand Eight Hundred and twenty five Gerard Rawes [signed]

This writing was signed and sealed by the said Gerard / Rawes the Testator and by him published and declared / as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of / us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses / thereto in his presence and at his request and in the presence / of each other. Witesses Stephen Walker clerk [signed] John / Fell Mary Fell.

N.B. the Sum of Twenty Pounds ordered by the above Will / to be paid to James Lowis of Shap is not a Legacy being / the Discharge of a Debt. The above Several Sums are to / be paid within twelve months after the Decease of the / Testator.

Proved 1st July 1825 by the / Executor under £100. / Ex'd by J.J.B. / C.J.J.
