This is the last Will and Testament of me / Mary Rawes of Bromley in the county of Kent widow. I desire to
have my remains / interred in the same Grave with my dear husband and I direct that all my just debts funeral
and testamentary Expences shall be fully paid and discharged as soon as conveniently / may be after my decease
I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Rawes Spinster of / Bromley in the county of Kent and to her heirs and
assigns for ever my Moiety or one / third undivided part and share of and in all that Freehold Estate commonly
called and / known by the name of Greengate situate and being in the Parish of Bampton in the county of /
Westmorland with the Appurtenances To hold the same unto and to the use of my said / Daughter Mary Rawes her
heirs and assigns for ever I also give and bequeath to my said / Daughter Mary Rawes all my plate and plated
ware of every description that I may be / possessed of at the time of my decease I also give and bequeath to my
sons Richard Rawes / and William Thompson Rawes and my said Daughter Mary Rawes all my Books but / I give the Case
they are in unto the said William Thompson Rawes I give and bequeath / to my two Daughters Elizabeth Rebecca
Palmer wife of Thomas Carey Palmer and the / said Mary Rawes all my bed and table linen and Wearing Apparel
Paraphernalia and / whatsoever belongs to my Person to be equally divided between them I also give to my son /
in law Thomas Carey Palmer the sum of fifty Pounds and as to all the Rest Residue / and Remainder of my Goods
Chattels Moneys Effects and Personal Estate whatsoever / and wheresoever and of what nature kind and quality soever
I give and bequeath the / same and every part thereof unto my three Sons and two Daughters namely Robert /
Booth Rawes the said Richard Rawes William Thompson Rawes Elizabeth Rebecca / Palmer and Mary Rawes to be equally
divided between them share and share alike / the share of my said Daughter Mary Rawes to be settled for her
benefit as after / mentioned I give devise and bequeath my three Messuages or Tenements adjoining together /
situate and being near the Town of Bromley on the South side of the Road leading / from the said Town to Widmore
with the Gardens and Appurtenances to the same / respectively belonging unto the said Richard Rawes William
Thompson Rawes and / Thomas Carey Palmer their heirs and assigns upon the trusts and for the intents and /
purposes following vizt upon trust that they or the survivors or survivor of them or the / heirs and assigns of
such survivor do and shall within six Months next after my / decease appoint some competant Person or Persons to
survey the same and fix a fair / value on each of the said Messuages with the Appurtenances and in case any or
either / of my said Children shall be desirous of purchasing all or any and or some[?] of the / said Messuages
with the appurtenances then I direct that the eldest of my said Children / shall have the first option of
taking and retaining the same at the valuation doo [----] / thereon and each of my said Children in succession
according to seniority of age shall have / the option of taking any one or more of the said houses which the
[----] eldest Child / shall desire to purchase at sure valuation And I direct that the amount of such / valuation
shall be considered as part of my Personal Estate and on any one or more / of my said Children paying or accounting
for the amount of such valuation to my said / Executors then I direct my said Trustees to release and make over
the said Messuages / and Premises respectively to the Child or Children who shall so take the same and pay /
or account for the amount of the valuation thereof as aforesaid and to their heirs and / assigns repectively or
in such manner and form as they shall respectively appoint But in / case my said Children shall all desire to
take all or any part of the said Messuages and / Premises at such valuation then In trust and I will and direct
my said trustees or / Trustee for the time being to sell and dispose of the same or such as shall not be / taken
on the request of any of my said Children either by Auction or private / Contract as my Trustees or Trustee
may think fit and the receipt of the Trustees or / Trustee for the time being shall be good and sufficient
discharges to the Purchase or / Purchases of the same And such Purchaser or Purchasers shall not afterwards be /
answerable or accountable for the misapplication or nonapplication of the purchase / Monies in any such receipt
or receipts expressed to be received And I will and direct that / the Produce arising from my said Messuages
and Premises whatever taken by / valuation or raised by sale thereof as aforesaid shall be paid to and be equally
/ divided amongst my said Children in the same manner as is hereinbefore directed / conserving the residue of my
Personal Estate and in the meantime and until the said / Messuages and Premises shall be taken or sold
respectively as aforesaid I will and direct / that my said Trustees and Trustee for the time being shall stand
seized thereof in trust / for all my said Children equally and their respective heirs and assigns as Tenants in
/ common and act as joint Trustees And as to the share of my said Daughter Mary of and / in the residue of my
Personal Estate and the Messuages and Premises or the Monies / arising therefrom I will and direct the same shall
be held and retained by my said / Trustees or Trustee for the time being or that they shall and do settle the
same upon trust / for the benefit of my Daughter Mary Rawes in the like manner and upon and / subject to the like
power of disposal and of the powers provisoes and conditions in all respects as my late husband / Richard
Rawes and in and by his last will and Testament settle and direct of and / concerning the Funds which he by
his said will left and bequeathed to or for the benefit / of my eldest Daughter Elizabeth Rebecca Palmer or as
near thereto as the nature of the / property and other circumstances will admit of And I will and direct that
all the responces / attending the execution of the trusts of this my will shall be paid out of my residuary /
Personal Estate And I appoint my said sons Richard Rawes and William Thompson / Rawes and my said Daughter
Elizabeth Rebecca Palmer Executors and Executrix / of this my will and I should wish my son Robert Booth Rawes
to understand in not / naming him as one of my Executors it is not from any feeling of unkindness or disrespect
/ towards him but because I wish to relieve him from any trouble in the arrangement of / my affairs And lastly
I revoke all former wills by me made and declare this my only to be / my last will and Testament In witness
whereof I the said Mary Rawes have to this / my will contained in three sheets of paper set my hand and seal
(that is to say) my / hand to the two first sheets thereof and my hand and seal to this third and last sheet /
thereof this third day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred / and twenty nine -
