This is the last Will and Testament of me / Thomas Rawes of Keld, farmer, near Shap in the County / of Westmorland and diocese of Carlisle, that is to say. First I / give and bequeath to my wife Eleanor Rawes the whole / of my stock and crop all my household Furniture, Beds / Bedding and linen. Also all my husbandry Implements / and dairy Utensils during the term of her natural life / and at her decease I direct the same be equally / divided amongst my surviving children, but should my / children not agree I further direct that the same shall be / sold and the proceeds arising from the sale thereof be equally / divided amongst them. I also give and bequeath to my / said wife during the term of her natural life the / yearly interest of Seven hundred and twenty pounds

which is secured by mortgage on lands within the said Diocese / of Carlisle, the said interest to be paid to her half yearly / and at her decease I dispose of the same in manner / and form following that is to say. I give and bequeath / to my eldest son Isaac Rawes the sum of Two hundred / and seventy pounds To my son William Rawes the / sum of One hundred and eighty pounds To my son Thomas / Rawes the sum of Two hundred and seventy pounds but should one of my sons die without heirs before the decease of / my said wife his legacy & share of the personal property by / me bequeathed to my said wife to be equally divided / betwixt the Survivors, but should two die without heirs / then the Survivor to have the whole, and in case the / whole three died without heirs then I give and beaqueath / the whole of my property to be equally divided betwixt / my Suurviving nephews and nieces. Lastly I nominate / constitute and appoint my wife Eleanor Rawes and / my son William Rawes joint Executrix and Executor of this my / last Will and Testament they paying all my just debts / Funeral and Testamentary Expenses out of my personal / property by me bequeathed to them. In witness whereof / I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of / December in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty one. Thomas Rawes his mark.

Signed sealed and declared by the Testator as and for / his last Will and Testament in the presence of us and / we in the presence of the Testator and of each other have / hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
