Ann Rawes
This is the last Will and Testament / of me Ann Rawes of Hill Top in Orton in the / County of Westmorland spinster. I give and / bequeath and devise to my nephew Thomas / Bowman of Crosby Ravensworth his heirs and / assigns for ever all that my freehold estate / commonly called Fawcett Mill situate in / the parish of Orton in the County of Westmorland / with all its appurtenances I give and / bequeath and devise to my said nephew / Thomas Bowman his heirs and assigns / for ever my freehold dwelling house in which / I now reside with all its / appurtenances I give and bequeath to my / niece Mary Hutchinson the sum of One / hundred and thirty pounds I give and / bequeath to my nephew William Bowman / the sum of seventy five pounds I give / and bequeath to my niece Sarah Nicholson / the sum of One hundred and seventy five / pounds I give and bequeath to my nephew / John Bowman now in America the sum / of Fifty pounds I give and bequeath to / Elizabeth Horne daughter of my said nephew / John Bowman the sum of fifty pounds / I give and bequeath to John Bowman / and Joseph Robinson Bowman Grandsons / of my nephew John Bowman the sum of / thirty pounds each to be paid to them by my executor / when they shall attain the age of Twenty one / years respectively and I will and direct that / the interest shall in the meantime accumulate / and provided either John or Joseph Robinson / die before he has received his Legacy I will / and direct that the Legacy of the Brother so

dying shall be paid to his surviving Brother and / I give and bequeath it accordingly and provided / they both die before their legacies are payable / I will and direct that their Legacies shall be / paid to the above named Elizabeth Horne / and I give and bequeath the same accordingly / I give and bequeath to John Septimus Sisson / Vicar of Orton and Mr Abraham Burra of / Raisbeck the sum of three hundred and / seventy five pounds In trust that they do / invest the same on good security and pay it / in equal shares among the children of my / late niece Mary Thompson as they attain / the age of twenty one years respectively and / in the mean time that they they allow the interest / to accumulate unless in their discretion / they deem it prudent to expend some part / of it in maintenance or education of any / of the said children of my said niece Mary / Thompson and with regard to the two / youngest of the said children namely Margaret / and Jane in case one of them shall die before / she has received her share or legacy and the / other shall live to attain her majority I will / and direct that the share or Legacy of the / sister so dying shall be paid wholly to / the surviving sister and no part thereof / shall be paid to the two older children of my / said niece namely Agnes and John Rawes and / I give and bequeath the same accordingly I give / and bequeath to the said John Septimus Sisson / and Abraham Burra the sum of One hundred / and twenty pounds In Trust that they do / purchase with the same an Annuity in the / Clergy Mutual Aid Society or some other good / society for Mary Boak the daughter of my late / nephew William Boak and that they do receive

the annuity as it becomes due and pay it to / my said relation Mary Boak or for her use / and on her behalf and in their acknowledgement / shall be a full and sufficient discharge to the / Society and I hereby appoint the said John / Septimus Sisson and Abraham Burra / Guardians of my said relation Mary Boak I / will and direct that the above named Mary / Hutchinson Elizabeth Horne and John Bowman / the son of my nephew Thomas Bowman shall / divide amongst themselves in as equal shares / as may be all my household furniture and / wearing apparel and I give and bequeath the / same accordingly I will and direct that all / the above legacies except those which I have / all ready directed to be otherwise paid shall / be paid by my Executor six months after / my decease and I hereby Charge my freehold / Estate hereinafter devised to my nephew / Thomas Bowman and not my personal / property with the payment of all the above / Legacies and all my just debts funeral / expenses and testamentary charges I also / direct that my Trustees shall repay themselves / for any trouble or wxpense they may be put / to in executing their Trust from the money / they shall have in their hands and they shall / not be answerable for any loss that may happen / without their wilful fault or neglect And I / hereby empower my said Trustees to give to / my Executor a receipt for the money by this / my will entrusted to them and I also declare / and direct that their receipt shall be a full / and sufficient discharge to my Executor / and shall free the Estate from all claim / that may be made upon it in any time and / under any circumstances whatever on account

of the said Trust money and I do hereby consti / tute and appoint my nephew Thomas Bowman / of Crosby Ravensworth sole Executor of this my / Will to whom I give bequeath and devise / all the rest of my property wheresoever and whatsoever In Witness whereof I have here / unto set my hand this fifteenth day of March / One thousand eight hundred and fifty four / - Ann Rawes - Signed by the / Testatrix Ann Rawes as and for her last Will / and Testament in the presence of us who at her / request in her presence and in the presence of / each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses / - Agnes Waller - John Robinson - / Proved 16th June 1854 by the oath of Thomas Bowman / the Executor -- Effects under £100.
