This is the last Will and Testament / of me William Rawes of Eastbourne Terrace in the parish of Paddington in / the County of Middlesex Doctor of Medicine I direct the payment of all my / just debts and funeral and testamentary expences and the expence of proving / this my Will I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Henrietta the sum of / one hundred pounds to be paid to her within three months after my decease / for her immediate purposes and I also give and bequeath to my said dear / wife all my household furniture wine plate linen china and books for her / own absolute use and benefit I give my gold watch to my grandson William / Woodward Rawes and my ring which I usually wear and my hair / guard to my son William Francis Rawes I give the sum of five guineas to / my daughter Mrs Susanna Sophia Durrant and a like sum of five guineas / to her husband Dr Christopher Mercer Durrant a like sum of five guineas to / my dear wife and a like sum of five guineas to her daughter Henrietta the / wife of the said William Francis Rawes in order that each of them may / therewith purchase a ring or some other token in remembrance of me I / also give to my medical attendant Mr Edgar Parker of Edgeware Road in / the County of Middlesex a sum of nineteen guineas and whereas by a / settlement made subsequently to my marriage with my present wife / Henrietta and dated the tenth day of November one thousand eight hundred / and forty it is provided that in case there should be no issue of such marriage / as therein mentioned that the trustees or trustee for the time being of the said / settlement should pay assign and transfer the trust monies stocks funds and / securieties as therein mentioned (being the sum of four thousand one hundred / and thirty nine pounds fourteen shillings and four pence formerly three pounds / ten shillings but now three pounds five shillings per cent annuities) unto such / person or persons as the said William Rawes should by deed or will as there / in mentioned direct or appoint now I do therefore in virtue of the power / given to me and of all other powers enabling me by this my last Will and / Testament legally executed direct and appoint that in the event of there / being no issue of my said marriage as in the said settlement mentioned / the trustees or trustee for the time being of the said in part recited settlement / shall stand and be possessed of the said sum of four thousand one hundred and / thirty nine pounds fourteen shillings and four pence three pounds five shillings / Bank per cent annuities or other the stocks funds and securities whereon the / same shall be invested upon trust as to due moiety thereof for my dear / son William Francis Rawes absolutely in case he survives me and in case / he should die in my lifetime upon trust for all his children in equal shares / or for an only child who being sons or a son shall attain the age of twenty / one years or who being daughters or a daughter should attain that age / or be married under that age and with power to accumulate the income / of the trust funds and apply the income from the presumptive share of / any minor or any accumulations of such income towards such minors / maintenance and education and as to the other moiety of the said sum of / one thousand one hundred and thirty nine pounds fourteen shillings / and four pence three pounds five shillings per cent annuities or either the / stocks funds and securieties whereon the same shall be invested upon trust / to permit and suffer my said daughter Mrs Durrant to receive take and

enjoy the interest dividends and annual produce thereof for her life for her own / sole separate and inalienable use and benefit exclusive of her said / husband and from and after her death upon trust for all her children in / equal shares or an only child as the case may be who being sons or a / son shall whether in the lifetime of their mother or afterwards attain the / age of twenty one years or who being daughters or a daughter shall / whether before or after the death of their mother attain that age or / marry under the same age with the like powers of accumulation and / maintenance as are before given in reference to the children of my said / son and in case of the death of all the children of my said daughter / before attaining a vested interest in the said moiety of the said last men / tioned trust funds then upon trust to pay assign and transfer the same / unto such person or persons for such intents and purposes in such / shared manner and form as my said daughter notwithstanding her / coverture and whether covert or sole shall by her last Will and Testament / or any writing in the nature thereof or any Codicil thereto direct or appoint / and in default thereof and so far as the same shall not extend upon trust / for such person and persons as would have been entitled by virtue of the / statutes of distribution to such last mentioned moiety of her share of / the said last mentioned trust funds and securities as of my said daughter / had been absolutely entitled thereto and had died intestate and unmar / ried I give to my trustees and executors hereinafter mentioned all the shares / and interest which I may have in any Railway or Gas Company or Com / panies at the time of my death upon trust that they and the survivors and / survivor o them and the executors administrators and assigns of such / survivor do and shall during the life of my said wife continue the monies / invested therein in the same securities and shall permit and suffer my / said dear wife during her life to receive and take out of the dividends income / and profits arising therefrom a yearly sum of fifty pounds of the same / should amount thereto and if the same shall exceed that sum the / excess of such interest dividends and profits to be equally divided during / the life of my said wife between my said son WIlliam Francis Rawes / and my said daughter Mrs Durrant and in case both or either should die / either during my lifetime or the lifetime of my said wife leaving issue / such excess of interest arising during the life of my said wife to be paid / out and accumulated at interest in the public stocks or funds of Great / Britain for the benefit of the respective children of my said son and / daughter in manner hereinbefore mentioned with reference to the / shares and interest given to them respectively in the said sum of four / thousand one hundred and thirty nine pounds fourteen shillings / and four pence three pounds five shillings per cent annuities and it / in my Will and desire that upon the death of my said wife or upon / my death in case she should die efore me the said shares shall be / sold and that one moiety of the monies arising therefrom shall be / paid to my said son William Francis Rawes absolutely in case he / should survive me and my said wife but if he should / die before us his share of the said / monies is to be invested and held by my said trustees for the benefit of his / children in manner hereinbefore provided in reference to the property / before given to them and as to the other moiety of the monies arising / from the said sale the same is to be invested by them in the public / funds or stocks of Great Britain and to be held by them upon and for the / trusts intents powers and purposes hereinafter declared respecting the / residuary property hereinafter given to my said daughter and her children / and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my real and Personal / Estate I give devise and bequeath the same unto my son in law / Dr Christopher Mercer Durrant my son the said William Francis Rawes

and Charles Sargeaunt of Rushton Cottage Higham Ferrers in the County of / Northanmpton Esquire upon trust that they the said Christopher Mercer Durrant / William Francis Rawes and Charles Sargeaunt and the survivors the assigns[?] / and the executors administrators and assigns of such survivor do and shall / with all convenient speed after my decease sell dispose of and convert [--------] / so much of my said estate as shall not consist of money and collect [----] and / receive the residue thereof and as to one moiety thereof shall pay assign and / transfer the same to my son William Francis in case he shall survive / me but in case he shall die in my lifetime leaving issue upon trust that the / said trustees or trustee for the time being of this my Will do and shall [---] out / and invest the whole of the said residuary estate in their or his names or [----] / in the Parliamentary stocks or public funds of Great Britain and shall from / time to time alter and vary such securities as and when occasion shall be / and require and hold and receive take and apply or one moiety of the said residu / ary trust monies stocks funds and securities and the interest dividends and / income thereof for and for the [------] of the children of my said son William Francis Rawes / in the same shares and proportions and subject to the same right of vesting inte/ rests powers and purposes as are hereinbefore declared respecting the property / hereinbefore given to the said children respectively and as to the other moiety / of my said residuary stocks funds and securities upon trust to permit and suffer / the interest dividends and income thereof to be received by my said daughter / Susanna Sophia Durrant for her life for her own sole separate and inalien / able use and benefit and after her decease upon trust both as to capital and inte / rest for her children in the same in the same shares and proportions and subject to the / same rights of vesting interests powers and purposes as are before declared / respecting the moiety of the said sum of four thousand one hundred and thirty / nine pounds fourteen shillings and four pence three pounds five shillings / per cent annuities and in case of the death of all the children of my said / daughter before attaining a vested interest in the said moiety of the said / residuary trust funds then upon trust to pay assign and transfer the same unto / such person or persons for such intents and purposes in such shares monies / and form as my said daughter notwithstanding her coverture and whether / covert or sole shall by her last Will and Testament or any writing in the / nature thereof or any Codicil thereto direct or appoint and in default thereof / and so far as the same shall not extend upon trust for such person and per/ sons as would have been entitled by virtue of the statutes of / distribution to such last mentioned moiety of her said share of the said resi / duary trust funds and securities as if my said daughter had been absolutely / entitled thereto and had died intestate and unmarried provided also and I / do hereby declare that in case either of them the said Christopher Mercer / Durrant William Francis Rawes and Charles Sargeaunt or any trustee or / trustees to be appointed in his or their place or stead shall depart this life / [---] to reside beyond seas or be desirious of being discharged from or neglect / refuse or become incapable or unfit to act in the trusts aforesaid before / the same shall be fully performed and executed then it shall and may be / careful for the acting trustees or trustee for the time being of this my Will or / the last acting trustees or trustee or the executors or administrators of such / last acting trusteees or trustee with the consent in writing of my said wife / during her life and after her decease of his and their own proper authority / to nominate and appoint some other fit and proper person or persons to be a / trustee or trustees of this my Will in the place or stead of this trustee or trustees / so dying or going to reside beyond seas or desiring to be discharged from or / refusing neglecting or becoming incapable or unfit to act in the trusts afore / said and that thereupon the said trust monies stocks funds and securieties / [--] all be assigned and transferred so and in such manner that the same / may vest in such new trustee or trustees jointly with the surviving or con / tinuing trustee or trustees or solely as the case may require and in his

her and the executors administrators or assigns upon the trusts of this / my Will or [---] and do many of them as shall be then subsisting either / capable of taking effect and that every such new trustee or trustees either / before or after such arrangement[?] or transfer shall be made and executed / shall have and may exercise the same powers priveleges and authori / ties if he had been originally appointed a trustee by this my Will and / further or that some of the trustees appointed or to be appointed as aforesaid / shall be answerable or accountable the one for the other or others of them / nor for the acts deeds receipts or defaults of the other or others of them / for involuntary losses nor for receipts in which they shall join only for / the sake of conformity nor for the security or title of any lands and premi / ses in or upon which the said trust monies or any part thereof shall be / placed out or invested as aforesaid and that it shall be lawful for the / present and every future trustee or trustees of this my Will to reimburse / themselves and such other out of the said trust monies and premises and / out of any monies which shall come into their or his hands by virtue of this / my Will all and every sum and sums of money costs charges and expenses / which he or they shall expend or be liable to pay in or about the execution / of the trusts hereby reposed in him and them as any wise in relation / thereunto respectively and I appoint the said Christopher Mercer Durrant / William Francis Rawes and Charles Sargeaunt Executors of this my / Will and hereby revoking all Wills Codicils and other Testamentary dispositions / by me at any time heretofore made do declare this alone to be and by this / my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my / hand this fourth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand / eight hundred and fifty two = Wm Rawes = Signed and declared by the / said William Rawes the testator as and for his last Will and Testament in / the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence at his / request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our / names as Witnesses = Roger Gadsden 28 Bedford Row = Ann Maria Stables No 29 Eastbourne Terrace

This is a Codicil to my Will which bears date the fourth / day of November one thousand eight hundred and fifty two whereas I am / under a liability for certain Calls which have or may be made by the / Western Gas Light Company upon me in respect of the shares which I hold / therein And whereas I have laid out the sum of one thousand pounds / and upwards which I have reserved for this purpose in the purchase of three / hundred pounds Consolidated Bristol and Birmingham six per ent / stock three hundred and fifty pounds guarenteed six per cent stocks of the / Eastern Counties Railway Company three pound and one pounds hundred / pounds five per cent perpetual preference stock of the Great Northern / Railway Company and five shares of the four and a half per cent / redeemable preference shares of the said last mentioned Company now / I direct that the trustees for the time being of my said Will shall sell the / said Railway Stock and shares or so much thereof as may be required / for the purpose and apply the proceeds thereof towards meeting the afore / said Calls when and as the same shall be made and if the said pro- / ceeds thereof shall be insufficient to meet them then I direst my said / trustees and executors to pay or make up any deficiency out of my / residuary personal estate and I hereby declare that in case I should / die possessed of any real or leasehold estate which it may be neces / sary for my said trustees to sell and dispose of under the trusts and direc / tions contained in my said Will the receipts of my said trusts shall / effectually discharge any purchaser of other person paying any money / under my said Will or the trusts thereof and such purchaser or other

Proved at London with a Codicil the 30th Janry 1854 before the / Judge by the oaths of Christopher Mercer Durrant Doctor of Medicine the Revd / William Francis Rawes Clerk the son and Charles Sargeant Esquire the / Executors to whom Admon was granted they having been first sworn to wit / the said Christopher Mercer Durrant and Charles Sargeaunt by Comon and / the said Revd William Francis Rawes before the Worshipful Thomas Spinks[?] / Doctor of Laws and Surrogate duly to administer.
