This is the last Will & Testament / of Elizabeth Rebecca Palmer widow of Thomas Carey Palmer Esqre late of / Shortlands Beckenham Kent I desire to be buried in Bromley Church yard in / the same grave in which the remains of my dear husband are laid humbly / hoping that this the merits & intention[?] of our blessed Saviour we may rise together / to a joyful resurrection I desire that my funeral & other just debts may be paid as / soon as possible after my decease Whereas I am possessed of an Estate in Westmorland / in the Parish of Bampton called Wormhow[?] I give & bequeath the same estate to / Henry Augustus Rawes son of the Revd William Rawes late of Bamborough / in the county of Northumberland to him and his heirs & assigns for ever I am also / possessed of an Estate in the Parish of Bromley County of Kent called Trouche[?] Farm let to Mr Wm Apps I give and bequeath the same for the term of his natural / life to Mr Joseph Rawes now of Masons Hill Bromley Kent & after his decease / I give and bequeath the same to William Wilson Rawes son of Richard Rawes

late of Stratford in the county of Essex & of Mary Ann his first wife to him his administrators / heirs & assigns for ever I also give & bequeath to the said William Wilson Rawes £1000 lawful money of Great Britain I give to Mary Thompson of Kirkby Stephen / in the county of Westmorland daughter of the late Richard Thompson of Green gate / Bampton in the said county the sum of £1000 lawful money of Great Britain I / also give to Betty Thompson sister of the said Mary Thompson the sum of £1000 / lawful money of Great Britain I give to my servant Joseph Jones £200 & mourning / I give to Sarah Goodacre and Charles Cork each £30 & mourning I also give to / William Gibbs Henry Milsted & Charles Townsend each £20 but should either or / anyone of the above named servants have left my service at the time of my decease / the legacy to be void & it is my desire that all the legacies left by this will shall be paid / in full the legacy duty to be paid out of my estate I give & bequeath to my dear / cousin Mary Anne Rawes daughter of Richard Rawes late of Stratford in the / county of Essex & his first wife Mary Anne all the rest and residue of my property / consisting of money in the funds freehold & leasehold estates money in my bankers / hands furniture jewels plate wine carriages horses farming implements stock of / every description in short whatever I possess except what I bequeathed above to / her the Mary Anne Rawes & to her heirs administrators & assigns for ever & I / leave the said Mary Anne Rawes sole executrix of this my Will & Testament / written with my own hand upon one sheet of paper this third day of July one / thousand eight hundred & fifty - Elizth R Palmer - Signed by the said / Elizabeth Rebecca Palmer the testatrix in the presence of us who were present at / the same time and in the presence have subscribed our names as witnesses. / M.W.Thompson - M.N.Thompson.

Proved at London 3rd March 1856 before the Worshipful Thomas Squires / Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oath of Mary Anne Rawes spinster the sole / executrix to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn duly to administer

Rev William Rawes was Elizabeth Rebecca's cousin, the son of Robert Rawes of Wetsleddale. Henry Augustus Rawes was a noted Catholic preacher based in London.

Joseph & Richard were the sons of William Wilson Rawes of Wetsleddale son cousins to Elizabeth Rebecca.

Elizabeth Rebecca's mother Mary was a Thompson by birth. The Thompson's were from Bampton.
