This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Rawes of / Monkwearmouth in the County of Durham Innkeeper made
this eleventh day of / November in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixty three with /
reference to two Acts of Parliament passed respectively in the twenty second and / twenty third and the twenty
third and twenty fourth years of the reign of Her / present Majesty the first intituled "An Act to further amend
the Law of Property / and to relieve Trustees" and the second intituled "An Act to give to Trustees / Mortgagees
and others certain powers now commonly inserted in Settlements / Mortgages and Wills" I revoke all wills by me
heretofore made I appoint / Henry Grear of Sedgefield in the said County Smith and William / Law of Willington in
the same County Innkeeper Trustees and Executors / of this my Will I give and devise unto and to the use of my /
said Trustees their heirs and assigns my two Copyhold dwellinghouses / and tenements situate in the village of
Sedgefield aforesaid now / occupied by the said Henry Grear and Mary Todd widow as my / tenents And all other my
real estate whatsoever and wheresoever / Upon Trust that they my said Trustees or the survivor of them / his
heirs or assigns shall as soon as conveniently may be / after my decease sell and dispose thereof and receive and
stand / possessed of the purchase money arising from the sale thereof and / any intermediate rents and profits
after payment thereof of all expenses / attending such sale or sales In Trust for my daughters Mary the / wife of
Henry Grear, Elizabeth the wife of the said William / Law, Jane the wife of William Herron of Stranton in the said
County / Brick and Tile Maker, Dorothy Rawes Spinster Alice the wife of Matthew Stamp Luckby of West Hartlepool in
the said County Officer of / Customs and Sarah Rawes Spinster in equal shares I bequeath / to my said Trustees
and Executors all my household furniture stock / in trade ready money book debts term tenancy and all other my
personal / estate and effects whatsoever subject to the payment thereout of my just debts / and funeral expenses
and the expense of proving this my will In trust for / my two unmarried daughters Dorothy Rawes and Sarah Rawes in
equal shares / Provided always and my will is that in case at any time within twelve / calendar months after my
deceasemy said daughter Dorothy Rawes shall / signify her wish to do so it shall be lawful and optional for her to
take / to herself and retain and have solely and exclusively the whole of my household furniture stock in hand
and other articles with and upon my / dwellinghouse and premises and my Goodwill License and tenency therein /
upon her paying or securing to my said daughter Sarah Rawes in such manner / as to my said Trustees and Executors
may seem expedient or sufficient one / moiety of the fair and reasonable value of the said household furniture /
stock in trade and other articles within and upon my said dwelling / house such value to to be fixed and
ascertained by my said Trustees and / Executors or by whom they may appoint as if on an ordinary sale by auction /
irrespective of Goodwill or of the said Dorothy Rawes continuing in possession / of the said dwellinghouse And as
of all estates vested in me as / Trustee or Mortgagee I give and devise the same unto and to the use of / the said
Henry Grear and William Law their heirs and assigns Upon the / trusts and subject to the equities affecting the
same respectively In witness / whereof I have hereunto set my hand the day and year first hereinbefore written

Allison Undercliffe Proved at Durham 16th September 1872 by the oath / of Henry Grear the surviving Eecutor, to whom Administration was / granted The Testator Thomas Rawes was formerly of Monkwearmouth in the County of Durham / Innkeeper but late of Crook in the same County and died on / 15th May 1872 at Crook aforesaid Under £20
