I William Rawes of Spittal, Hewer Hill, Castle Sowerby make and / declare this to be my last Will and Testament. I will and appoint Joseph Wilson / Schoolmaster of Howbeck to be my Trustee and authorise and empower him to carry / out and perform all matters pertaining to this my Will. It is my Will that all I / possess be given to and held in Trust for the use and benefit of my wife Ann Rawes and that / it become her sole and undivided property and be at her entire disposal - As witness / my hand [margin note: Executor according to tenor] William Rawes [signed]

This Will without date but in fact executed on or about the / tenth day of November 1875 was Proved at Carlisle the thirteenth / day of March 1876 by the oath of Joseph Wilson the sole Executor / according to the tenor of the Will to whom administration / was granted. The Testator William Rawes was late of Spittal near Hewer Hill in the parish / of Castle Sowerby in the County of Cumberland, Collier and died on the twenty ninth / day of November 1875 at Spittal aforesaid.
