I Frances Ann Rawes presently residing at number thirty one Melville Street, Portobello in the County of Midlothian, spinster. Considering it to be a duty incumbent on me to settle my affairs in the event of my death do hereby give grant assign dispose convey and make over to and in favour of my beloved sister Elizabeth Blackburn Rawes presently residing at number thirty one Melville Street aforesaid Spinster, and her heirs Executors and representatives whomsoever for her and their own absolute use and behoof whom failing, that is to say, in the event of the said Elizabeth Blackburn Rawes predeceasing me, to and in favour of my blood Brother the Reverend Henry Augustus Rawes, Doctor of Divinity, Saint Mary’s, Bayswater, London in the County of Middlesex and his heirs Executors and representatives whomsoever for his and their absolute use and behoof the whole Means

Estate and Effects heritable and moveable real and personal that may pertain and be resting owing to me at the time of my decease with the whole vouchers and instructions thereof and all that has followed or may be competent to follow thereon, but always with and under the burden of all my just and lawful debts and deathbed and funeral charges with full power to the said Elizabeth Blackburn Rawes whom failing to the said Henry Augustus Rawes to intromit with the whole of my said Means and Estate to give up inventories thereof, to confirm the same and generally to do everything necessary in the premises: and I nominate constitute and appoint the said Elizabeth Blackburn Rawes whom failing the said Henry Augustus Rawes to be my sole Executrix or Executor as the case may be, and I revoke all former Settlements made and executed by me at any time heretofore Reserving always my own liferent of the whole Estate and Effects above conveyed with full power to me at any time in my life and even on deathbed to alter innovate or revoke these presents in whole or in part as I may see proper: and I dispense with the delivery hereof and declare these presents to be good valid and Effectual though found lying by me at the time of my death or in the custody of any other person for my behoof: And I consent to the Registration hereof for preservation: In witness whereof I have subscribed these presents written upon this sheet of paper by James David Walker, Stockbroker, Edinburgh, at Portobello upon the twenty eighth day of November in the year eighteen hundred and seventy six before three witnesses the

At Edinburgh the fifth day of February one thousand eight hundred and eighty in presence of William Henderson Esquire one of Her Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the County of Linlithgow appeared Miss Elizabeth Blackburn Rawes residing at number thirty one Melville Street, Portobello Executrix of the said deceased miss Frances Ann Rawes residing at number thirty one Melville Street aforesaid who being

solemnly sworn and examined depones that the said Frances Ann Rawes died at thirty one Melville Street, aforesaid domiciled in Scotland upon the eleventh day of December eighteen hundred and seventy nine and the deponent has entered upon the possession and management of the deceased’s Estate as Executrix nominated by her in a Disposition and Settlement enacted by the said Frances Ann Rawes upon the twenty eighth day of November eighteen hundred and seventy six exhibited herewith and signed by me the deponent and the said Justice of the Peace of this date as relative hereto that the deponent does not know of any Testamentary Settlement or writing relative

to the disposal of the deceased’s personal Estate or Effects or any part thereof other than the said disposition and settlement that the foregoing Inventory signed by the deponent and the said Justice of the Peace as relative hereto is a full and complete Inventory of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased Francis Ann Rawes wheresoever situated and belonging or due to her beneficially at the time of her death in so far as the same has come to the deponent’s knowledge that the deponent does not know of any money or property belonging to the deceased liable to the duty imposed by the Acts 23 V. &15 &23 &24 VC 80 that the value at the date

of the said personal Estate and Effects situated in the United Kingdom including proceeds accrued thereon down to this date is one thousand pounds sterling and under one thousand five hundred pounds sterling That confirmation of the said personal Esate and Effects is required in favour of the deponent all which is truth as the deponent shall answer to God (signed) Elizabeth B.
