This is the last Will and Testament / of me / Mary Rawes of Sherborne Co. Dorset, widow / First I direct that all my just debts funeral expenses and testamentary expenses / be paid with all convenient speed after my decease by my Executors / hereinafter named and subject thereto I give devise bequeath and / dispose of my estate effects and property in the manner and in favour / of the persons hereinafter mentioned and described that is to say I give / and bequeath unto Thomas Sherrin of Sherborne aforesaid Butcher the / nephew of my late husband James Rawes the Leasehold Dwellinghouse / Orchard garden and premises situate in Westbury Sherborne aforesaid / now in my own occupation subject nevertheless to the option hereinafter / given to John Leatherdale to reside in and occupy the said premises for / the period of two years following my decease I also give and / bequeath to the said Thomas Sherrin the leasehold Messuage garden / and premises now in the occupation of Caleb Young adjoining the last / mentioned premises I also give and bequeath to the said Thomas / Sherrin the Leasehold Messuage and premises in the occupation of George / Yelland adjoining my said Messuage and premises I also give and / bequeath to the said Thomas Sherrin my two Leasehold Cottages in / Westbury aforesaid now in the several occupations of Mrs Noake and / Mrs Hellyar I give and bequeath unto my friend John Leatherdale / of Sherborne aforesaid all my Freehold or Copyhold Messuages and / premises situate in Hardings Lane, Gashouse Lane, Back Lane and Church / Yard or elsewhere in the parish of Gillingham in the said County of / Dorset in the several occupations of Emma Coward, William Maidment / Mrs Estance, Miss Taylor and others To hold to him his heirs and / assigns I also give devise and bequeath unto the said John Leatherdale / the Schoolroom belonging to me in the said parish of Gillingham I give / devise and bequeath unto Emma Rawlings the daughter of Mr Charles / Rawlings of Hindon, Wilts my two Freehold Dwellinghouses and premises / in Newland Sherborne aforesaid in the several occupations of George / Dalwood and George Dungey I give devise and bequeath unto my / late husband's niece Harriet the daughter of the late Mark Sherrin of / Sherborne aforesaid All those my several Freehold Cottages in Newland / aforesaid now in the several occupations of Messres Brown March

Pitman and others to hold to her her heirs and assigns I give devise / and bequeath unto James Edwards of Bournemouth Hants Silversmith / all those my Ten Freehold Cottages in Pound[?] Street Sherborne aforesaid / in the occupation of Messres Combs Andrews and others I give and / bequeath to the Charitable Institutions next hereinafter named the / legacies or sums of sterling money following that is to say To the / Treasurer of the Gillingham (Dorset) Dorcas Society for the use of the / said Society £20 To the Trustees of the Gillingham Baptist / Chapel for the use of the said Chapel £100 (To the Treasurer / of the Yeatman[?] Hospital at Sherborne aforesaid for the Charitable purposes / of the said Hospital the legacy or sum of £200) To the / Trustees of the Salisbury Infirmary for the Charitable purposes of such / Infirmary the legacy or sum of £100 To the Treasurer of / Dr Barnardo's Homes for Orphan and Destitute Children to be applied / to the charitable use of the said Homes the legacy or sum of £100 / To the Treasurer of George Muller's Orphanage at / Bristol the legacy or sum of £100 I give and bequeath unto my Executors and Trustees hereinafter named the sum of £100 Upon Trust to invest the same in the Gillingham Branch / of the Wilts and Dorset Banking Company and apply the sum of £10 per annum in the purchase of Bread to be distributed in the / month of January in every year amongst the deserving poor of the said / parish of Gillingham until the said fund shall be exhausted I also / give and bequeath to my said Executors and Trustees the sum of £100 Upon Trust to invest the same in the said Wilts and / Dorset Bank at Gillingham and apply the sum of £10 per annum / in the purchase of Clothing for the deserving poor of Gillingham aforesaid / the recipients being selected by my said Executors and Trustees I give / and bequeath to the Trustees of the Surgeon Orphanage London the / legacy or sum of £100 I give and bequeath to the / Treasurer of the British and Foreign Bible Society the legacy or sum / of £100 And I direct that the foregoing Charitable / Legacies shall be paid out of such part of my personal estate as I may / lawfully bequeath for charitable purposes I give and bequeath to / Bessie Sawtell the daughter of Walter Sawtell of Sherborne aforesaid / Butcher the legacy or sum of £200 I give devise and

bequeath to the three nephews of my first husband Silas Down the / legacies and property hereinafter mentioned that is to say To George Down / of Sherborne aforesaid Tailor the legacy or sum of £100 / I give and devise to Richard Down of Charlton Horethorne Somerset Labourer All those my two freehold Semi-detached Messuages and premises / at Boscombe Bournemouth aforesaid I also give and bequeath to the / said Richard Down the legacy or sum of £500 I give / and bequeath to John Down of London Cordwainer the legacy or sum of / £1000 I give and bequeath to Reginald George Clow the / son of The Reverend William George Clow, Baptist Minister late of Sherborne / aforesaid the legacy or sum of £50 which sum I direct my said / Executors and Trustees to place on deposit at Interest at some Bank to be / approved by them And I authorize my said Executors and Trustees to / pay the said sum and interest to or at their discretion to apply the same for the maintenance or advancement in life of the said Reginald / George Clow when he shall attain the age of sixteen years I give and / bequeath to Mary Ann Perrott the wife of John Perrott late of / Yeovil Somerset Grocer the legacy or sum of £100 / I give and bequeath to Joseph Mullings of Gillingham aforesaid / Bank Manager the legacy or sum of £100 I give and / bequeath to Jane Jeane the daughter of John Down of Buckhorn Weston / Dorset the legacy or sum of £100 I give and bequeath to Mary Triptree the daughter of my cousin Hannah the wife of James / Triptree of London, Glover the legacy or sum of £100 / I give and bequeath to the said John Leatherdale all my Household / Furniture Plate Linen China and other Household Articles and effects / I also give and devise to the said John Leatherdale the use of my / said Residence in Westbury Sherborne aforesaid hereinafter devised to / the said Thomas Sherrin for the period of two years after my decease / if he should desire to occupy it for that time I give and bequeath / to the said James Edwards of Bournemouth the legacy or sum of / £200 I forgive John Gerrish who married Louisa / Rawlings the debt of £200 which he owes me or so / much thereof as shall be owing at my death and all interest and / arrears of interest thereon to the day of my death I appoint the / said Thomas Sherrin and John Leatherdale Exectors and

Trustees of this my Will and I give and bequeath to each / of them the legacy or sum of £200 in consideration of / the trouble which they may have or be put to in the execution of the / trusts of this my Will And as to all the rest residue and remainder / of my estate effects and property wheresoever and whatsoever and of / what nature or kind both real and personal of which / I may be possessed or to which I may be entitled at the time of my / decease I give devise and bequeath the same unto and equally / between and amongst the following persons namely my cousins Charles / Rawlings George Rawlings and John Rawlings my cousins the said / Hannah Triptree and Eliza Moody share and share alike as Tenants / in Common And I direct that if either of them the said Charles / Rawlings George Rawlings John Rawlings and Hannah Triptree shall / predecease me leaving issue him or her surviving such issue shall take / and if more than one as tenents in common the share or interest to / which his or her or their deceased parents would if living have been / entitled But should the said Eliza Moody predecease me then I / direct that her share and interest of and in my Residuary / Estate shall go over to and be divided equally between and amongst / my other residuary legatees hereinbefore mentioned In witness / whereof I have hereunto set and subscribed my hand this fourth / day of February One thousand eight hundred and ninety / - Mary Rawes - / Signed by the said Mary Rawes the Testatrix as and for her last / Will and Testament in the presence of us both present at the same time / who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other / have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses

Proved at Blandford the 22nd day of July 1891 by the oaths of / Thomas Sherrin nephew of Testatrix's late husband James Rawes and / John Leatherdale the Executors to whom Admnistration was granted / The Testatrix Mary Rawes was late of Sherborne in the County of / Dorset Widow and died on the 3rd day of June 1891 at Ravenshill near / Newent in the County of Gloucester.
