JOSEPH WILLIAM RAWES OF AMBLESIDE

Will of Joseph William Rawes of Ambleside, Westmorland. Made 24th December 1945. Proved Carlisle 7th September 1953. (Jamaica Line)

This is the last Will of me, Joseph William Rawes of "Uldale" Birch Road, Ambleside in the County of Westmorland, Retired Painter and Plumber.

I appoint my daughter Lily and my son Frank to be my executors of this my Will.

I give and bequeath all my household furniture plate and plated articles linen china glass books pictures and all other articles of personal domestic or household use or ornament belonging to me in the house I rent called "Uldale" and the benefit of my tenancy in the said house to my said daughter Lily for her own use absolutely. I give devise and bequeath all my real estate and the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever to such of them my three children Lily Frank and John as shall survive me and if more than one as tenants in common in equal shares subject to the payment thereout of my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts PROVIDED ALWAYS that in case any of my three children shall predecease me leaving a child or children who shall survive me and attain the age of twenty-one years such child or children shall take and if more than one equally between them the share in my residuary estate which his her or their parent would have taken had he or she survived me. I hereby revoke all former Wills and testamentary dispositions at any time heretofore made by me IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twnety fourth day of December One thousand nine hundred and forty-five.

Signed by the said Joseph William Rawes at and for his last Will in the presence of us both present at the same time, who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
